I’m all for collaboration. Great projects happen when good builders, designers, trades and suppliers work together.

What I don’t understand is the race for every business to become a “one-stop shop” for things completely outside their specialty.

Because once enough people have their fingers in the pot, one of two things tends to happen:

Somebody gets squeezed hard enough that quality/product/service suffers… or everybody adds their markup and the price gets ridiculous.

Either way, the client is the one paying for it.

There’s something to be said for hiring specialists — and letting them be really good at what they do.

Agree? Disagree? I have a feeling people are going to have thoughts on this one. 👀

This soapstone piece has an ogee front edge paired with a ¼-round detail on the custom splash — and there’s a whole lot of shaping, polishing, checking and refining between the first pass and the finished piece.

The goal is that once it’s installed, all that work just looks effortless. 🪨

Colour gets most of the attention when choosing countertops, but the 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗮 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲.

A polished finish reflects more light and tends to feel brighter and crisper. Matte or Suede finishes give you a softer, lower-sheen look, while textured finishes can bring even more depth and character to the surface.

There isn’t one “best” finish — it depends on the material, the space and the look you love.
